Weekly Upgrade #10

Reading, Writing, Learning, Teaching, Coaching, Living. These are all parts of a daily, weekly, monthly, annual process for growth. It is amazing how much information changes situations. I have dedicated my habitual life to learning many new things and developing into a version of my ideal self. If interested in learning with me, continue to check in and I would love to encourage discussion or questions on the subject of information shared!

Book I finished:  Go for No!

I have posted this book before as I stated starting it, but completing this “hefty” 74 page book that is nearly the size of my hand. It is a story form but seemed to have several great “nuggets” that literally had me think “aha!” I do not think this book is limited to sales, as it applies to life. It fits the narrative of how different your life would be if only you knew your full potential. It all starts with just one conversation or one bit of information put into action.

An Email I enjoyed: “The five ‘trigger’ questions”: Sunday morning I began reviewing missed e-mails and came across one that stood out to me by Dr. Benjamin Hardy. If you’re journaling, here are 5 things that have been found to better commit yourself to success (also performed by high achievers that most of society idolize). Those five trigger questions to see daily, or at the least weekly:

1.) Where am I right now?

2.) What are my wins over the last 90 days?

3.) What wins do I want for the next 90 days?

4.) Where do you want to be in twelve months?

5.) Where do you want to be in three years from now?

These are prompts in my journal that I have began using to start off my 2021 year. I will say I am able to intentionally accomplish perhaps twice as much with the journal compared to not.

Bill Gates said: ““Most people overestimate what they can achieve in a year and underestimate what they can achieve in ten years.”

If this is accurate and we can accomplish nearly twice as much with journaling, I can not imagine how different we will be 10 years from now!

Reflection: “If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else”- Yogi Berra

One of the biggest challenged I have been working to overcome is finding my self identity. Knowing what I want to do and how I want to do it. I have always been skeptical of those whom I did not know on a personal level trying to help, thinking of “what’s the catch?” Until I have heard the same concepts possibly a million times from different people, then did I begin to believe the truths they were speaking. Beyond taking in the information, I did not stop to think about what was being said and how it can apply to me.

When I took some time to think and clear my mind of chasing squirrels and any other clutter, I have found that there was subconscious goals that I had been hiding for YEARS now. So before they slipped away, I began speaking of them and writing them down.

We are all trying to figure life out. Whether you are 10 years old or 90 years old, no one has all of the answers to your life or theirs. This I believe was realized as I speak with so many different people in different phases of their life learning about goals, philosophies, successes, and “failures”.

One book that I read in 2020 I believed gave me a different perception on life is: “Man search for meaning” by Viktor Frankl

It is a humbling book to allow us to realize how great our opportunities are in life compared to some of those who lived just a couple generations before us.

Growing My Inner Circle: I have made a few new connections and reconnected recently with some very amazing individuals. All of them far ahead of me in different aspects of life. We share advice on challenges and discuss what we are working on to improve our future. I truly believe you do reflect five of your closest friends because they can distract you and pull you away from aspirations or drive you towards your aspirations and goals. It is too easy to think “not me”, you’re not alone to think this. If you’re not exactly where you want to be in life now and moving towards exactly who you want to be in the future, can you afford to neglect the possibility?

One great accomplishment of a cousin of mine, is that he recently accomplished his real estate license. Talking about goals and acting on them are two different things completely. Success comes from action, check out his website here if you’re in the market for an ambitious realtor.

Questions and Actions

Answer the five trigger questions for yourself. Even if you think it is silly or unimportant right now, your future self might appreciate it. Worse case, you have something to look back on if you save our answers for a year.

My changed habits include:

Quote: “We cannot force someone to hear a message they are not ready to receive, but we mist never underestimate the power of planting a seed.”

Thank you for reading! Please share if this is something you have found any of this information interesting, entertaining, or useful. Have a remarkable day!
