Life can be challenging. Theres so much to do with seemingly so little time. This is why it is so important to get real with yourself. Commonly, the first thing some people do upon waking up is reaching for their phone. Setting their brain to work on autopilot doing a mindless tasks, exposing yourself to a false reality where it appears everyone is living the dream life without you. This starts the day with little to no direction. We do not have a time problem, we have a prioritization problem. One thing to reflect on in the moments throughout your day: “is this purposeful?”, “is this the best use of my time?”, “is this the most important thing to me right now?”
We may not think about it in the moment. When we are on the phone, we are typically neglecting those around us. Friends, family members, spouses, children, or possible acquaintances that could lead to networking opportunities.
Morning Routine:

In my house there are times I’m termed as “a robot”. The terms come from waking up early and getting started on my day. Throughout the day, I typically keep moving until I lay down to sleep at night. No naps (although they can be beneficial and purposeful). I typically have the excitement or sense of urgency to get up and keep moving for many reasons. Primarily those reasons revolve around short term goals, that lead to quarterly and annual goals. I have purchased several journals and played with different layouts. I plan to continue modifying my own version that best suits my priorities. It helps give direction in a chaotic world fighting for your attention.

Podcast: Bigger Pockets Episode 551:
During this episode, the host David Greene discusses the process towards the physical success of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. We see aesthetics, watch movies or videos, and think theres something he has that we do not. In some concepts, sure. But, theres are a series of decisions and lifestyle choices that lead to the success we all see in videos or movies today.
David Greene:
“…if you wanted the Rock’s life, that means getting up at 5:00 AM, working out harder than you’ve ever worked in your life every single day, regardless of how sore you are, what injuries you have. Having to fly your weight sets with you when you go, he looks like he has freedom in a sense he doesn’t. In another sense, he’s a slave.
He’s a slave to the recording schedules and the scripts that he has to practice and the businesses he’s running. He’s a slave to the shareholders and the clients that he is making things for, I’m obviously not putting the rock down the man’s incredibly successful, but he has traded some of the freedom that Josh has is talking about for that. So a wiser perception is I don’t want the rocks body, I don’t want to pay the price, I would have to pay to have his body, and the same could go for a lot of other things.”
TED Talk:
Although there are many “duh” concepts in this video. There is a strong division from what we know or feel we know, from what we actually do habitually. I appreciate how Laura Vanderkam clarifies a simple fact that we all have 168 hours in a week. It is how we prioritize that time, that defines the outcomes we are receiving out of our lives.
Questions: What is your current morning routine? What can you add into your routine that suits your priorities more?
Actions: Implement that priority into your daily routine starting today. Plan, how you will implement it tomorrow without negotiating our way out of it.
