First off Happy Thanksgiving to everyone reading this!
I am grateful to have the opportunity to have your eyes to read this content put together over the past 10 years now!
Enjoy and be sure to spend time with friends, family, and acquaintances without guilt.
For those looking to maintain progress in their health journey here are some tips for you:
Although statistically we tend to eat a lot more on holidays than other day’s, a single day does not make or break our overall habits and routine when it comes to weight loss or weight gain.
As we have calories on the top of our mind, here are some tips I share with you moving forward…
1️⃣ Start with Protein & Veggies
Fill your plate with lean proteins and colorful veggies first. These are nutrient-dense and help keep you fuller, reducing the temptation to overindulge in high-calorie foods.
2️⃣ Practice Portion Control
It’s okay to enjoy your favorite holiday treats—just keep portions reasonable. Use a smaller portions while savoring every bite. Historically I recall eating so much, I not only didn’t enjoy the food options as well. I felt lethargic the rest of the day.
3️⃣ Hydrate Before & During Meals
Drink a glass of water before eating to help curb hunger and avoid mistaking thirst for hunger. Staying hydrated also aids digestion. Getting into the habit of starting your morning off with water followed by hydration through the day is also most ideal.
4️⃣ Pick Your Favorites
You don’t have to eat everything! Choose 1–2 indulgent dishes you truly love, and skip the ones you can live without. This helps you enjoy the meal without feeling overstuffed. In other words don’t feel pressured or sympathetic eat your aunts old school stuffing recipe that literally no one likes…
5️⃣ Eat Mindfully
Slow down and chew thoroughly. Focus on the flavors, textures, and conversations at the table. This prevents mindless overeating and enhances your holiday experience.
✨ BONUS TIP: Stay Active!
Balance indulgence with movement. A family walk, yoga session, or quick workout can help you feel energized and keep your metabolism humming. By the time this is posted I will have worked out and likely will be on a trail hike with my family.
The holidays are about joy and connection, not guilt. Enjoy yourself while making mindful choices that align with your goals! 💪🎉
