How My Life Goals Have Changed

As not all of my blogs are going to be directly about me. I feel it would be appropriate to at least give you a little bit of information about myself and why it might benefit you in the future to follow along this journey of life that we have offered to us. Therefore enjoy and thank you in advance!

Throughout High school I’ve always been told through standardized workplace, placement tests that I am to be in a position of management. I was unsure what sort of work I wanted to do so I played things by ear. After going to college I realized that college courses are quite different than high school and I juggled courses and schools. Between transitioning between two colleges I finally decided to work for a bit and enjoy life. I got into long distance running which will details be spared for another story on another date. After working for A Hotel for 5 years, I decided it’s time for a change as I began working for a Coal/ Steel provider. As I was making more in my life than ever before and more than my friends post high school, I initially thought it was great. After three months I completed a shift before a long weekend and wrote my resignation letter. As the money seemed great I was not happy with my place of work and quality of life working for this company. I knew I was worth more than just settling for what I could get.

After learning how difficult living could be without the college education behind me, I decided to resort to the concept of studying. After 6 months I became a Certified Personal Trainer. I felt initially on top of the world. I was able to manage my own work schedule throughout each week, of course as long as it co-related with my clients schedules. However there was one problem. I was working for a corporate gym that literally gave me 17% of what they charged for each session. I was also driving 40 minutes each way to and from work and I only got paid for working with the select few clients I had at the time (which only covered the gas). I realized I loved helping others with their health and fitness goals along managing my schedule according to my life, however I felt that I deserved more than just gas money to maintain my career as a trainer. After a year and a half I finally found myself back in school with a focus, now on physical therapy.

While taking per-requisite courses for a Physical Therapist Assistant program, I began working now with the title “Master Trainer” where I would make a whopping 30% per session. As this rate was more qualified for me to be able to eat dinner, I worked my way though college while maintaining a Magna Cum Laude recognition, class program president and graduating from my program while allowing my pay checks cover the cost of continuing my education.

Now I am working in a physical therapy clinic and I am excessively happy to work with the company and co-workers that I have. I do have a set schedule with slight flexibility which is kinda of cool, however I understand that my current career requires me to be there full time for 40 hours a week. This exhausting my free time, I am temporarily putting my fitness training on hold while I work on some serious personal growth.

I will continue working 40 hours a week, on top of that I will be consistently reading through a number of nutritional, metabolic, training essentials, business management and self growth books. This allowing me to transition into another chapter of my life which potentially leads me back to my original future expectation of managing a service that not only provides fitness instructions and direction, but rehabilitative correction, nutritional adjustments, guidance and direction. Inspiring others to not only achieve their physical goals in life but changing their mentality on life over all as well. Improving the quality of life in those around me is my mission as my passion is to not only be great at what I do but see others around me be even greater than they ever expected.
