Did you know: The Scapula

The scapula ( Shoulder blade) has 17 different muscles attached to it?

Crazy or as boring as it sounds, the scapula has an amazing job.

Every muscle works as a pulley system in the body. If just one muscle is functioning incorrectly, inhibited or “in spasm” the rest of the synergy function is altered.

  1. Serratus Anterior
  2. Supraspinatus
  3. Subscapularis
  4. Trapezius
  5. Teres Major
  6. Teres Minor
  7. Triceps Brachii long head
  8. Biceps Brachii
  9. Rhomboid Major
  10. Rhomboid Minor
  11. Coracobrachialis
  12. Omohyoid inferior belly
  13. Lattisimus Dorsi
  14. Deltoid
  15. Levator Scapula
  16. Infraspinatus
  17. Pectoralis Minor

Not that we will have to recite all of the muscles but each one of these muscles have an essential job in the function of not only the shoulder, but the neck/head, thoracic spine (mid back) as well as affecting the pelvis/hips an Lattissimus Dorsi is attached to the same fascia as the gluteal group.

If you’re having difficulty carrying, reaching, rotating your arm or even turning your head (but not limited to). A scapular dysfunction can limit these functions.
