Weekly Upgrade: BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals)

Every week I recap with a group of individuals discussing wins and losses for the week. We discuss reflections, challenges, and goals to set our future selves up for success. Although we meet weekly to discuss relative topics, our weekly goals are focused on succeeding at our quarterly goals. The primary foundation of those quarterly goals are derived from our personal yearly vision.

Quote I’ve enjoyed: This one was shared to me by one of my brothers. I felt it to be a powerful quote expressing that together we are more powerful and effective than alone.

– Martin Niemöller

Book I’ve completed: Becoming Supernatural (Book number 21 for the year)

This was a recommended book by several individuals so I was excited to learn from it. I appreciated 50% of the book as some aspects make complete sense to me, some topics about the physics of vibrations made some sense, then some aspects seems quite farfetched when it comes to being able to see past experiences in an alternative life. The gist take away is that your mind and body will take you towards whatever it is you focus on. If that be optimistic and intuit with your own body, you will appropriately be able to control your thoughts and actions. In turn the outcome of your future physical and mental health (within reason).

Experiences I have enjoyed: Biking 197.4 miles on gravel and some road within the Ann Arbor- Detroit region. This took a total of 17 hours from start to finish setting out at 8:00AM and finishing the following morning at 1:00 AM (way past my bed time). The focus was slow and steady with maintaining a low heart rate (within the 130s range averaged). Surprisingly this allowed me to finish the event with some energy left over. Feeling great beyond simply being tired due to the time of the night of which we finished. Although this was not the infamous coast to coast ride (212 miles across he state of Michigan), at least this was confirmation that finishing the event was definitely possible.

Listed Property: My wife and I teamed up with one of my brothers to start a real estate venture. In November 2021, we purchased our first rental property in Michigan. For 7 months we spend hundreds of hours of additional work beyond our regular W-2 jobs along with tens of thousands in repairs to the property. We finally completed the renovation and now have the property listed for rent. Although every step is a learning process, it is exciting to see years of foundational learning and given thought; finally turned into fruition.

Question: What is something you said you have always wanted to accomplish or do?

Action: Write down 2-3 life goals you have told yourself you wanted to accomplish. You do not have to know exactly how you will do this yet, but writing it down where you will see it allows you to think of “baby steps”. Every week designate moments of your time wards that goal, as eventually it is bound to become a reality of success.
