When in history have we looked back to realize we are actually younger? fortunately this does not mean we are destined to a significant decline in health day to day. It is like a death by a thousand cuts but actually 28,175. That’s the average lifespan for an individual living in the United States.
Sadly there are factors that are uncontrollable and those are things we should not worry about or give attention to. Especially when there are variables that are under our control that allow us not only to improve on that number: 28,175 days but also the most important variable. Health span: one’s ability to enjoy life with cognition and physical health intact.
This is what we can and in my bias opinion we should focus and work on. If not for your own personal reasons, possibly for those who rely on you: your spouse, your children, friends, relatives… insert person or reason here:____.
If you’re wondering where to start:
There are 5 factors to consider:
- Nutrition: hydration and food intake
- Exercise and movement
- Medication and supplements
- Mindset and psychological health
- Community and social health
All relatively controllable variables compared to factors like our genetics what predispose us to certain pathologies affecting both quality and quantity of our life span.
Knowing the content and applying the contents of this content differ greatly. As one may be able to effectively apply all concepts discussed, there is a valid purpose for specialties and professions in the realm of health and wellness.
